This Privacy Policy explains how GenLayers ("GenLayers," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our website and services (the "Service"), available at app.genlayers.com.

1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Password (encrypted) or OAuth identifier if you sign in via a third-party provider (e.g., Google)
1.2 Content You Provide
When you use the Service to generate a thumbnail, we collect and store:
- Your video title
- Your text prompt / "Vision" description
- The URL of the resulting generated image
- Metadata about which generation mode was used ("Generated By")
1.3 Uploaded Photos
If you choose to upload a photo (e.g., a selfie for face-based generation), that image is transmitted directly to our third-party AI processing providers for the sole purpose of generating your requested output. GenLayers does not store uploaded photos on our own servers. Note that our AI processing providers may retain images temporarily on their own systems in accordance with their own retention and abuse-prevention policies.
1.4 Payment Information
Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor (Freemius). We do not directly collect or store your full payment card details. Freemius may collect billing information necessary to process your purchase in accordance with their privacy policy.
1.5 Usage & Analytics Data
We use analytics tools (including Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use our Service. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and general usage patterns.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Process your generation requests and deliver results
- Process payments and manage your credit balance
- Communicate with you about your account or purchases
- Monitor, analyze, and improve the Service
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only as follows:

4. Data Retention
Account data (email, generation history: titles, prompts, generated image URLs) is retained for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to comply with legal obligations.
Uploaded photos are not retained by GenLayers; they are processed transiently and passed to our AI providers.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or object to certain processing activities.
EU/UK users (GDPR): You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California users (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected and request deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined under CCPA.
6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies (via Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics) to operate the Service and understand usage patterns. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
7. Biometric / Facial Image Notice
Some features allow you to upload a photograph containing your likeness or face for generating a customized thumbnail. By uploading a photo, you consent to its transmission to our third-party AI processing providers solely for generating your requested output. Do not upload photos of any person other than yourself without their explicit consent.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete such information promptly.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
